Final Thoughts

If there is one thing I learned from this semester it would be the power of questioning. The ability to look around you and question what you see, hear, and perceive is a skill that seems so easy.. but in all honesty is very difficult.

What if you were so unaware that you just followed aimlessly and never questioned anything at all?

You would probably get into a lot of sticky situation... or you would just be ungodly bored all the time. Either way it doesn't sound like a good time.

For my final project, I took this idea of questioning and understanding and turned it into a seminar for teachers. Within my grant proposal I stress the importance of critical thinking and close reading. These skills not only help higher education students with research, but they also help grade level students better understand the world they are living in.

With the right training and education, grade school kids would be able to take something as simple as a photograph and place into the context of time and space. Students would learn the skills needed to question their world and others in an academic manner. It is one thing to accept education, but it is another thing to forge your own path to education.
